Thank you NYC!

What a picture Mother Nature painted for us on September 15th! A beautiful sunset turned the sky a brilliant shade of pink to a vibrant orange while the Hudson River shimmered on the banks of Robert F. Wagner Park. Lady Liberty gave us a nod of approval for bringing 5000 of our closest friends to gaze out at her in amazement. With a touch of fall in the air, New York could not have set a better stage for the 6thedition of Dîner en Blanc New York.

Every year is a guessing game on where we will be; would we finally be in Brooklyn, or Central Park? Would we need to hop on a ferry? The buzz among the guests rang with questions, all anxiously waiting for the big reveal. This year did not disappoint with our guests settled into the beautiful gardens of the park, surrounded by the late summer plantings that continue to bloom and the soothing sounds of the Avalon Jazz Band. Adding to our celebration were Broadway actor John Riddle, who performed classic numbers from An American in Paris, and Gaby Galore’s Swing-Era Dancers, who danced through the park from end to end.

A surprise delighted the guests when the antique M/V John J. Harvey Fireboat captained by Huntley Gill, choreographed its water spray to signal the waiving of the napkins to begin dinner and ended with one long farewell horn as it cruised through the Harbor.

We dined, we danced against a surreal backdrop of skyscrapers and drank wine and champagne well into the night.  Our perfect meals were paired with specially selected wines from
Apothic and champagne from Moët & Chandon. As dinner ended, the night lit up with sparkling shoes, hats and garments as DJ Whitney Day brought to us by Scratch Events took the party to a new level. The dance floor filled. Our guests danced until the very end. It was a classic New York night. Certainly one for the record books!

A special thank you to our Hosts, Linda Davis and Kaitlin Barry of The Davis Group, llc, Christine Tripoli Krische of Looking Glass Events Group, Peter Kohlmann of Peko Productions, and Sandy Safi of Dîner en Blanc International for collaborating on another amazing Dîner en Blanc New York. Thanks to Chef Todd English and Great Performances Catering for creating delicious picnic fare for our guests.  A special thank you to Apothic Wines, and Moët & Chandon for providing wine and champagne that certainly quenched our thirst. And a very special thank you to Battery Park City Authority and Battery Park City Parks for allowing us to take over such a special place. It truly was an exceptional setting.

Last but not least a tremendous thank you to our Volunteer Leader, Kim Shulster and our two Head Leaders, Susan Feldman and Belquis Thompson for putting in countless hours so that every guest experienced a seamless journey to Robert F. Wagner Park. And we can not thank our 23 Group Leaders: Irina ZheleznyakMichelle YoungCrystal Taylor, Laura Casale, Whitney Ale, Lindley Schneider, Ashley Biggie, Christian Chino, Alex Wallach, Eric Cornell, Calena Johnson, Carla Nelson, Danielle Horry, Anita Wong, Rachel Lovett, Edwina Godec, Everett Ellis, Shakera Jones, Olga Pelegrin, Stephanie Linn, Barbara Marcoz, Alshante Squire, Samantha Murdock, Andre (The Count) Dumas, and our 96 dedicated Table Leaders enough!
